Its all about following your heart

Sidin Vadukut takes a decision to opt out of the rat race. He writes

"Finally after weeks of contemplation and thought and watching Friends reruns I have decided to finally do it. A few days from now I will cease to be a consultant. Instead I will be a writer.

As we speak an email is hurtling its way across the nation to my HR and MD indicating my imminent departure from AT Kearney. From next Friday I will be a free bird and will immediately embark on a book, freelancing, columning and anything else I can force people to hire my writing skills for.

The reasons are numerous. But in the end I decided I needed to do what I was happiest doing "

All the best Sidin

When will i ever be able to do that.. Sigh

Some pictures of me and my collegues

15 Park Avenue

Caught up with 15 Park Avenue on Tuesday. This was my first Aparna Sen movie, i had missed Mr. and Mrs. Iyer somehow. One thing that struck me while watching the movie is how a story about a serious and complicated disease like schrzophrenia can be told so simplistically. There in lies the difference between Black and 15 park avenue. While both movies deal with a person and his family struggling to cope with disability or a disease, Black does it in so melodramatic and over the top way. I immediately started to dislike Black after watching this movie. Simplicity in story telling is a huge plus and you realize this watching this movie. However i didnt get the ending though. Was it meant to convey that while Mithi finds her ultimate destination in her unreal world, all others around her grapple to find happiness in their very real world? I dont know, anyone who saw the movie intrepreted it in any other way???

Some pictures from my trip to the beautiful Kodai

Things that i dont look forward to in 2006

Well Happy New Year to all. Another year whized by before i could make any sense of it. Had a whale of time on New years eve (wondered why everyone celebrates new year though nothing, absolutely nothing changes once the clock ticks over). This time spent the new year eve at Kodai. It was a crazy trip where half of the fun was on the drive which took a total of 24 hrs.

Well new year is for resolutions and i do have a lot of them. But certain things are there which i would be glad doesnt happen in 2006

1. The word "Get married" : I am tired of hearing this. I was at home for a week and everyone i met had the same thing to say to me. I know i will reach the tender age of 28 next May but that doesnt mean everyone should get on a war footing to get me married. I am not capable of falling in love and arranged marriage at best is hilariously scary. So stuff it off folks i will get married when i need to or when i am ready to.

2. Reality Televison: Can we have some less of them please, its really sickening to see grown up men and women crying at the drop of the hat for no particular reason. It seems to have become a fashion on TV and i cant stand it. why cant we have some taste in TV . I have now majorly shifted to watching plays to kill time and some entertainment and beleive me its more than worth it.

3.Less of my rather aimless rant on life to my freinds. There are two ways to lead a life, either you find what you want and go for it or shut up and enjoy with what you have. Enough is Enough Mr Rajeev go get a life...
